Urban Armor

Designed for the everyday

Urban armor was developed to take on the daily needs of a commuter through adaptive clothing

Urban Armour was developed as a way to adjust to our surroundings through apparel, but it didn’t start there.

An original problem statement evolved with user needs, research, and the current ecosystem.

IN THE FIRST WEEK

the project looked for a solution when engaging virtually, focusing on noise isolation, virtual meetings, and privacy.

In prototyping, two tools were developed — a device for web browsing with privacy, and a device for isolation in virtual meetings.

In The Second Week:

Through research and user feedback, the project evolved into a portable isolation tool. The target users would be individuals wanting to use their smartphones in public or noisy spaces, with the device offering noise isolation and privacy while being foldable and quick-forming.

It was nicknamed “ Cabeza”

A demonstration of the mechanism allowing the device to quickly pop into shape.

Lightweight, Foldable, and Easy to Use. Cabeza offered a playful solution to studying, connecting, and scrolling in your own safe space while having low production and distribution costs.

In The Third Week:

Another pivot was taken and the project became Urban Armor, apparel offering storage and privacy while being easily packable. This was done by utilizing the jacket lining as large pockets and the development of a folding visor with a double hood with the ability to cover the face and head while being retractable.
